Advocacy
From an early point in his career,
Jerry McHugh has contributed to the education of other
lawyers.
- He has co-authored a two-volume
text, Pennsylvania Torts: Law & Advocacy, which
has been critically acclaimed in reviews, and is cited
throughout the notes of Pennsylvania statutes.
- He has been elected to membership in the American
Law Institute, a national organization of legal scholars,
judges, and practitioners, dedicated to the improvement
of the law.
- He has delivered more than
75 lectures on Pennsylvania tort law and trial advocacy
to lawyers across the state.
- He has been invited to lecture
at the State Conference of Trial Judges, and before
the civil judges of the Philadelphia courts.
- He helped to design
a unique training program for the Support Center for
Child Advocates in Philadelphia and has done training
sessions for the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent
Program.
- He has published numerous articles in
professional journals on principles of law and trial
skills.
- He has been invited to present
his unique approach to advocacy as part of the Pennsylvania
Bar Institute’s “Masters
of Civil Trial Advocacy” series, and been invited
to speak at New Jersey ATLA’s annual lecture by the
country’s “top
ten” trial lawyers.
